How to apply for burial funding for persons 18 years or younger

Step 1: Put together your application for funding, providing a detailed summary of why you are applying.

Include in your application:

certified copy of the original death certificate
summary or explanation of the events that led to the death of the person in question
proof of residence using a municipal bill, or an affidavit stating proof of residence from next of kin or a family member (residence must be within the boundaries of the City of Cape Town)
quote from the company organising the funeral, including bank details as the amount is payable straight to the company

Step 2: Once you have completed your request, you can submit it by emailing mayor.mayor@capetown.gov.za.

You can also hand deliver your request by putting it in the mayor’s internal post box, which can be found at the Podium Block information desk at the Civic Centre.
